Actress and singer, CoCo Lee, has died at just 48 years of age.

CoCo was best-known for voicing Mulan in the Mandarin remake of the 1998 Disney film. She was also hailed for her contribution to the soundtrack for the live-action remake of Mulan in 2020. In 2001 the incredibly talented star was nominated for Best Original Song at the Oscars for ‘A Love Before Time’ on the soundtrack for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Following the news of her death, CoCo's sisters Carol and Nancy released a statement on social media. They confirmed the tragic news of their sister's passing, and revealed that she had been battling depression for some time before a suicide attempt on July 2. They wrote: "With great sadness, we are here to break the most devastating news: CoCo had been suffering from depression for a few years but her condition deteriorated drastically over the last few months. “Although CoCo sought professional help and did her best to fight depression, sadly that demon inside of her took the better of her." Her sisters explained that CoCo attempted suicide on July 2, and was in hospital being treated until July 5, when she tragically passed away. Carol and Nancy went on to say: "As family of CoCo, we are very grateful and honored to have such an excellent and outstanding sister. “We are thankful to God for giving us such a kind angel. We know now she has gone to a happier place and no longer suffers from depression; we trust God has her best interest looked after!" They concluded the post writing: "Although CoCo stays in the world for not long a time, her rays of light will last forever!"
