With over 1.4 million followers following her every move on Instagram, you'd think Maya Jama never feels anything but confident.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter is not afraid to post videos of herself dancing in the studio or posing without makeup on, but the 25-year-old has also admitted to suffering from imposter syndrome and often wanting to disconnect with the world. For those who don't know, imposter syndrome is defined as a "collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. 'Imposters' suffer from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence." Imposter Syndrome apparently affects 66 percent of women at work according to a study by OnePoll on behalf of Access Commercial Finance. That means that two thirds of us, regardless of fame, success or accolades, feel in some way, not good enough.

"There'll be times when I'm in a room and I'm like, 'What the fuck am I doing? I don’t belong here'", the star told Grazia UK.

But Maya is learning ways to combat her feelings and with daily affirmations and thinking of all the things she's grateful for, she reminds herself that she is good enough and exactly where she's meant to be. But when things get overwhelming, Maya cuts contact.

"I’m the worst person to contact. "I don’t reply to texts, I don’t call back. I delete WhatsApp all the time and I sleep with my phone on airplane mode."

Admitting that she hates to be accessible to people all the time, regardless of how she's feeling, Maya admits that prefers to not be easy to contact and always has all notifications turned off.

"It's weird that someone thinks that they can just get through to you, no matter what you're doing. That's your time," she continued.

And although the star had quite a public split from Stormzy last year with the Heavy Is The Head star releasing a song about her and the mistakes he has made, Maya is just trying to concentrate on her happiness.

"I'm just trying to have a good time at the moment, I’m just trying to have fun."
