Katja Mia looked happier than ever at her traditional celebration
Katja Mia and her fiancé, Darragh Curran, celebrated a major milestone in their relationship at a traditional Dowry in Burundi.
The presenter and her long-term partner, Darragh, returned to her motherland, Bujumbura in Burundi, for the momentous milestone.
They were joined by their nearest and dearest for the special occasion, which Katja described as a day that will always be in her heart.
During the traditional celebration, also known as a Gukwa, the groom will officially ask his future bride's family for her hand in marriage.
The event is also considered the unification of the couple's families.
Speaking about her special day, Katja said it is one that she will never forget.
"My Gukwa / Traditional Dowry Day 06.09.25. It’s a day that is forever stamped in my memory and in my heart. To honour my culture, ancestors, and family in this way was the highest privilege, and to share it with my better half, his family, and our friends from Ireland was everything!"
Katja added, "Thank you to our event decorator, Bella, and her team, who created this magical setting. You are perfection!"
Katja and Darragh are set to tie the knot in 2026.
The couple got engaged during a romantic holiday in Italy in August 2024.
