Florence Pugh looked beautiful at the Oscar's after-party, but all anyone wants to focus on is her nipple

Pugh's stellar career isn't the only thing the public adores about her. Her style has developed most incredibly in just a few short years. Seeing Pugh arrive on a red carpet is always thrilling because you know her team has put together an empowering and strong look.

Her most recent appearance at the Oscars proved she is one of the most celebrated stars in Hollywood, but also one of the most stylish.

Her stylist, Rebecca Corbin-Murray, always finds the most flawless pieces for Pugh. The Little Women actress stunned in a Jean Paul Gaultier at the Vanity Fair after-party but all anyone wanted to talk about was the fact that you could see her nipple.

A tiny body part that we all have caused uproar online because apparently, we've travelled back in time to the 1800s.

Rather than celebrating the empowering look, people were quick to slate Pugh and even claimed her look was 'attention seeking'.

Nasty remarks about her appearance and slut-shaming quips spread online, but amongst them were women praising Pugh.

Not letting the societal pressure and sexualisation of women's bodies stop her from wearing what she wants is beyond empowering of Pugh.

After all, it's just a nipple. It's another body part and people are far too offended by them. Do you freak out if you see a shoulder, an ankle, or someone's earlobe? No, so let's get over the hysteria when it comes to a woman's nipple.

We don't shame men for strolling around with no tops on when Dublin hits 20 degrees, so why is there such uproar when Pugh wears a sheer dress to a red carpet event?

As Pugh said it so perfectly herself: "It's the freedom people are scared of."

"I speak the way I do about my body because I’m not trying to hide the cellulite on my thigh or the squidge in between my arm and my boob: I would much rather lay it all out."

"It’s the freedom that people are scared of; the fact I’m comfortable and happy. Keeping women down by commenting on their bodies has worked for a very long time. I think we’re in this swing now where lots of people are saying, ‘I don’t give a shit.’

"Unfortunately, we’ve become so terrified of the human body that we can’t even look at my two little cute nipples behind fabric in a way that isn’t sexual. We need to keep reminding everybody that there is more than one reason for women’s bodies [to exist]."

Walking down the red carpet in that dress said so much in the most subtle way. The outrage the dress caused proved we have so far to go but it served as a reminder that the future is bright with women like Florence Pugh leading the way.
