Celine Dion’s sister has spoken out about the star’s current condition in a heartbreaking update to fans.

The singer recently revealed that she suffers with Stiff-person syndrome which medics "know so little" about. According to the national institute of neurological disorders, Stiff-person syndrome (SPS) is a rare, progressive neurological disorder with symptoms including:

• Stiff muscles in the trunk (torso), arms, and legs
• Greater sensitivity to noise, touch, and emotional distress, which can set off muscle spasms

The 55-year-old went public with her diagnosis in December of 2022, revealing that it affects one in a million people worldwide. In the latest update, Claudette Dion, 74, praised her younger sister and said she is a "strong woman" who is "doing everything to recover". Some of the symptoms she is experiencing are spasms, and Celine's sister said they are now "impossible to control". Speaking to Hello! Magazine, she said: "You know how people often jump up in the night because of a cramp in the leg or the calf? It's a bit like that, but in all muscles. "There's little we can do to support her, to alleviate her pain." Celine, in the past, told fans that her neurological condition was making it difficult for her to walk and continue to sing. She has since cancelled all plans for her Courage world tour, and says they will remain off the table until she's ready to get back on the stage. The My Heart Will Go On singer is currently under the guidance of a "great team of doctors" and is working with sports-medicine therapy to build her strength back up. Claudette added that family members are living nearby the star to help out which is very "comforting”.
