Last night's Met Gala saw some of the biggest and brightest stars come together to bring the theme of 'American Independence' to life. From Billie Eillish's classic old Hollywood gown to Yara Shahidi's breath-taking tribute to Josephine Baker to Kim Kardashian's head-to-toe Balenciaga outfit, it was certainly a night to remember for Hollywood's elite. One moment, however, stands head and shoulders above the rest, and it involved a special shout-out to the Cork town of Bantry. On the red carpet, supermodel Emily Ratajkowski joined Glamour's editor-in-chief, Samantha Barry, to discuss their ties to the Irish town. Dressed in a stunning red Vera Wang dress, the fashion entrepreneur had a chat with Barry, and it wasn't long before the two were gushing over their Cork connections. Indeed, the model is a passionate supporter of Bantry's basketball club. Having spent numerous childhood summers in the town, Emily officially sponsored the under 15/16 boys team at Bantry Basketball Club through her clothing line. As well as holidaying in the town, Emily's father used to play for the club in the 1980s. This isn't the first time the world famous model has shown her public support for Bantry. Four years ago, while visiting Cork, Emily described Ireland as her "second home". Then, in 2018, she celebrated the local team's victory in a basketball tournament.
