Performing for the first time since her hosting duties at the Oscars last week, Amy Schumer not only discussed the infamous slap, but also one joke she was forced to pull from the ceremony. Performing stand up at Las Vegas’ Mirage Theater, the comedian referred to Will Smith as Ali, referencing his role as Muhammed Ali in one of his films. “I was kind of feeling myself…and then all of a sudden Ali was making his way up,” Schumer said. “And it was just a f**king bummer. All I can say is that it was really sad, and I think it says so much about toxic masculinity. It was really upsetting, but I think the best way to comfort ourselves would be for me to say the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t allowed to say on TV.” And the joke she is talking about? It was all about Alec Baldwin's shooting on the set of Rust back in October 2021. Going through the jokes she was planning on telling but proved to be too controversial, they included jabs at Joe Rogan and James Franco. But one was all about the Rust shooting involving Alec, reportedly telling her audience: "I want to preface these Oscar jokes by saying that my lawyer said not to say these. Don’t tell anybody and don’t get mad at me. "Don’t Look Up is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun. "I wasn’t allowed to say any of that [at the Oscars], but you can just come up and [slap] someone." Amy later cut the jokes from her set, after she was advised that it was the best way to go by her lawyers. The Baldwin punchline seemingly changed to referencing the Oscars failing to look up reviews before nominating Don't Look Up.
