2. A classic nude nail can take you straight through from autumn to winter and match everything in your wardrobe. For an extra bit of sparkle on those Christmas party nights out, simply apply a layer of gold glitter along the tips or add a few crystals.
3. No matter what time of year it is every woman wants that smooth, flawless glowing skin and I give it to you in a bottle, it is Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation.
This light weight illuminating liquid foundation has a light to medium buildable coverage that not only corrects blemishes and darkness in the skin but makes the skin’s texture appear smoother and leaves the skin looking dewy and natural.
4. To brighten up and refresh those tired eyes on a dark winter’s morning, a white or cream eye pencil applied to the water line will open them right up and make it look as though you’ve slept like a baby.
Check out MAC’s Eye Kohl in ‘Fascinating’ a bright matte white, or Illamasqua eye pencils in ‘Elate’ a matte white or ‘Vow’ a warm cream colour.
5. Don’t forget to change your summer bronzer to a matte shader, applying in the same spots; forehead, temples and under the cheekbones. It will give the same warm glow while contouring the face perfectly. Mineralize SkinFinish Natural collection has a great range of shades to suit all skin tones.
This also applies to blush, instead of the usual bright peach and pink shades that many wear during the summer, opt for soft corals and cool pinks as they will compliment your skin tone better for the winter months.

6. Everyone needs the perfect autumn/winter shadow palette. My pick for 2014 is Illamasqua’s ‘Neutral Palette’ consisting of four shades; a warm buttermilk cream, an antique gold, a rich chocolate brown and a deep smouldering black.
This palette is perfect for the novice to the pro with easy application, flawless blending and long lasting colour, master a smokey eye in minutes!
7. This autumn, burnt orange, warm cranberries and deep purples are the go to shades in lipsticks. Apply a thin layer of cream concealer to the lips to block out any natural lip colour and add longevity to the products. Line the lips and fill them in with a matching lip pencil and apply lipstick over this.
Alternatively for something different mix and match your lip liners to your lipsticks to create new shades. MAC, Inglot, Barry M and Wet N’ Wild all have some amazing colours to try out.
If you fancy perfecting your own makeup look then why not try out the new 6 week Intro to Makeup course at Portobello Institute. You will learn the basics through to creating flawless looks.
