Earlier this month we put out the call for Irish women to share their skin disasters. Let’s be honest, we’ve all had them!
You responded in your droves, and you’ve kept us laughing with your stories and reminded us of several embarrassing skin situations of our own!
Now, we've chosen five of the best entries, and we need you to choose the most deserving winner, as we offered up a hamper full of VICHY Normaderm products for one lucky woman who shared her story. Check out the five stories below, and then head over to our Facebook page here to cast your vote.

Story 1:
Normally I have pretty good skin and consider myself very lucky but from time to time I’ve been known to have a bad breakout…and as luck would have it this is always around the time of a big event for which I want to look my best! Most recently I had a first date with a really hot guy and low and behold I woke up on the morning of my date with a WHOPPER spot on my chin… the sore, swollen kind that erupts like a volcano on your face and no amount of cover up can hide! I was so freaked that I almost postponed the date, but I told myself to suck it up and made a joke of it on the night. He said he didn’t notice (we both know he was fibbing). Thankfully it didn’t deter him and he’s now my boyfriend, so it didn’t turnout all bad in the end!
Story 2:
This comp fairly brings back the bad memory! I was about 13/14 in 2nd year in secondary school and wasn’t big into my fashion, just copied everyone else. Myself and my sister spent more time with our horses that using make-up. You'd think with four girls in the house we'd be Barbies, but not me!
I still get shivers thinking of the day I thought using my mums foundation to cover up the mess (two!) spots on my chin would go unnoticed. It all started off fine. I put a little one but it was so dark the rest of my face looked so white, so I continued. I thought I’d done a great job and no-one would notice. Note here that my mum has really dark hair and I’m pure blonde - about three shades if not more in the difference of our current foundations! As I walked down the corridor at school all the lads who stood along the walls started singing the Oopma Loompa song. I was dying inside - it was going to be a long day. One teacher actually asked me was it really sunny down our part of the town! Needless to say it was quite a while and with some instruction before I even tempted with make-up again…
Story 3:
I’m a college student about to go on placement in June, and I'm sick of my constantly pimpled skin. It doesn't matter to seem what I use from not wearing make-up to bed, to less powder, using primers etc. My spots are still visible through my make-up (I don't believe in piling make-up on to cover them) but it would be nice to be blemish free or for them to be even less noticeable. Just when I think I've got rid of a few, another massive one pops up, which is disastrous, especially when heading on a night out with the girls who seem to always have PERFECT skin. Plus, people do comment on it, as if I'm the only person to ever have spots!
Story 4:
My skin disaster story happened on the morning of my wedding. I tried my best not to get stressed out in the hope that my skin would not break out in spots. I drank loads of water and got lots of fresh air and I must admit my skin was glowing. I had my hair and make up professionally done and looked a million dollars in my wedding dress. The photographer arrived and began snapping pictures. I decided I wanted one of me with my fluffy cat taken and just as I lifted her up she seem a bit scared with all the commotion. As she jumped from my arms she left a big angry cat scratch right across my nose. I was horrified and the tears flowed. Luckily, the lady doing my makeup managed to calm me down and did her best to conceal the scratch but I had to apply makeup several times during the day to make sure it remained covered. I laugh at it now but at the time I thought it was the worst thing that could have happened!
Story 5:
It was the Irish premiere of Oblivion, and I was more than excited to finally meet Tom Cruise - who I've fancied for years! I woke up that morning, ready to get glammed up but to my horror a HUGE ugly spot had appeared on my nose - I couldn't believe it. I went and bought a concealer, however it didn't do much to help (yes, it was THAT bad!), and headed up to the cinema to await a glimpse of the Hollywood hunk! After three hours of queuing my moment was FINALLY here, I didn't even care about the huge spot on my nose, and Tom was talking to me. He asked how I was and thanked me for coming out saying I was clearly a dedicated fan. But his compliments didn't stop there, as he was walking away he turned and said "Oh, and that nose piercing is really cool- love that red shade!"
