Whatever your skin type, there are some golden rules you should be following to make sure yours is in tip-top condition. We’ve paired up with skincare experts VICHY for a series of guidelines for different skin types… today we're tackling sensitive skin.

1) Hydration is key. Drink plenty of water every day, and even more importantly, make sure you're following a balanced diet that includes lots of green leafy vegetables and foods rich in water. This will help your skin fight off environmental factors that may aggravate your condition.
2) Moisturise. As well as hydrating from the inside with your water intake, make sure you’re using a good moisturiser daily too, and choose one specially formulated for sensitive skin.
3) Stay safe in the sun. Contrary to popular belief, sun exposure is not good for sensitive skin. As well as aging you prematurely, exposure to UV rays can also irritate sensitive skin and make any visible sights of your problem skin more pronounced. Use an SPF every day as part of your beauty regime.
4) Test before you buy. Those with sensitive skin have to be much more careful when shopping for new beauty buys. Make sure to carry out a patch test with any new product, using a sample, before you decide to buy.

5) Savvy shopping. When you’re indulging in some product purchases, remember that those that contain thermal spa water, for example, will help to sooth sensitive skin.
6) When it comes to foundations, it is best to use a skin health foundation that is rich in health promoting active ingredients such as anti-oxidants and UV filters to help protect the skin.
7) Cleanse morning and night with a gentle cleanser and avoid soaps. Over washing your skin will just aggravate your problem, so just remember that gently does it!
