Whatever your skin type, there are some golden rules you should be following to make sure yours is in tip-top condition. We’ve paired up with skincare experts VICHY for a series of guidelines for different skin types… today we're tackling dry skin.

1) Gently does it! Use a soap free cleanser to wash your face morning and night, as products containing soap can exacerbate dry skin. Instead opt for a cleansing cream or milk.
2) Give your diet a helping hand. While a balanced diet and exercise will help any skin looks its best, very dry skin can benefit from fish oil supplements.
3) Warm is good, hot is not. When cleansing and showering, very hot water is not your friend. Hot water will strip the skin of its natural oils, which are needed to keep your skin moist.

4) Use a separate moisturiser for day and night. Save heavier creams for overnight use and instead opt for a lighter cream during the day.
5) Take care in the sun. It might seem silly saying so in this climate, but the sun is always there and can dry out your skin, causing it to lose its natural oils. Make sure you use an SPF as well as your moisturiser every day. Opt for at least an SPF 15 so your skin is protected.
6) Scrub it up. Using a gentle exfoliator once a week will remove dead skin and make your moisturiser work more effectively.
7) Consider your atmosphere. Working in air-conditioned offices can make your skin dry, and overheating a room removes moisture from the air. Something as simple as leaving a bowl of water atop a radiator can help replenish moisture in the air and stop your skin from feeling parched.
