Tried and tested beauty products often come up in conversation, which can be very helpful when you want to find out about a certain item before purchasing. This week, we've been chatting about our favourite moisturisers and as we all have different skin types, there's quite a mix of products. Michelle This is one of those cult beauty buys that you feel will never live up to the hype. Except, this one does. Last year marked the 10 year anniversary of Elemis’ groundbreaking Pro-Collagen Marine Cream, (€105). A hero product for the brand, this moisturiser is sold once A MINUTE around the globe. With a wealth of awards under its belt, the experts are in agreement that this is a ‘holy grail’ product, and it gets my vote too, along with the backing of several clinical trials. The lightweight texture is absorbed in seconds and just a week of use will make a big difference to neglected skin. It’s very pricey, and certainly not for everyone’s budget, but I will say this: Mine was a gift, and the very first expensive beauty product I will save up to replace. It’s that good.   Sue My absolute favourite moisturizer is L'Oreal Hydra Fresh which is incredibly hard to find here. I don't actually have dry skin but my skin can become incredibly dehydrated due to a lot of swimming so this is perfect to fix up my skin. It usually costs about €10 but most of the time I have to order it online now. However, it is worth it. Grace L'Oreal HydraFresh is my go to moisturiser (€10). Lightweight, non-greasy and just like the name suggests it keeps skin feeling hydrated for a substantial period of time. I do tend to have very sensitive skin and suffer from dry patches but this cream has yet to give me any real bother and leaves my face feeling soft and supple. My pet hate with moisturisers is a heavy residue of the skin but HydraFresh does the opposite and absorbs quickly leaving no stickiness behind. I'm not too keen on anything perfumed and this only has a slight fragrance. This cream gives you great value for money. ​ Rebecca We know the name gives it away but Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion (€40) really is dramatically different. It leaves my skin feeling fresh without being too greasy. I can also wear it underneath my makeup without it feeling too heavy on my skin. I love it and I wouldn’t use anything else! Liz For a daily moisturiser, you can't go too wrong with Nivea Q10 Plus, anti-wrinkle of course (€12.19). It's a great moisturiser to use day or night, and doesn't feel oily or heavy on the skin. It's also got Vitamin E, which my granny always swore by for beautiful skin, so it ticks all the boxes. There's a light flowery scent and the pot seems to last a lifetime. For a budget brand it's definitely my pick.   Úna If you want flawless skin, it's so important to look for a moisturiser suitable for your skin type but this isn't always easy! For my oily skin I prefer to use Pureness Moisturizing Gel-Cream from Shiseido (€40). It's a bit on the pricey-side and tough to find but it works wonders for me. Marie At the ripe old age of 28, I should probably be using an anti-ageing formula but I really like No. 7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream For Normal/Dry Skin (€16.25) as it is rich enough to keep my skin moisturised yet still light enough to absorb quickly. I think this is a great choice for those with combination skin as it doesn't leave any residue or exacerbate oily skin. Better still, it's very reasonably priced for a mid-range moisturiser. Cathy I've combination skin so I can get dry patches around the nose but then it gets quite oily too so it's pointless using anything heavy. My skin can also be very sensitive and has a tendency to break into red patches whenever it feels the need. Kiehl's Skin Rescuer is brilliant as it calms red and irritated skin while also replenishing much needed moisture. It's expensive at €35 but a little goes a long way and I don't use very much in one go.
