As much as we love makeup, there is of course the odd disaster and one of the worst is perfecting your base only to find out it's completely slipped off an hour later. NOT COOL. Here are our picks for keeping your face on. Michelle My loyalty when it comes to foundation can waver, but not so when it comes to powder. Whatever the base, I’ll finish off my look with MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation (€31.50). Technically it’s a foundation all on its own, but realistically powders can be very drying and don’t offer the best coverage. I prefer a light pat of this after I’ve used my serum/concealer/foundation, to ‘set’ the look and remove any traces of shine. It’s long lasting on the skin and the compact itself lasts for months and months. With over forty shades to choose from, you’re guaranteed to find one to suit. Rebecca Like my foundation, I'm quite fussy when it comes to powder and also like my foundation, I use Bobbi Brown when it comes to powder. Bobbi Brown Sheer Finish Pressed Powder (€35) creates a smooth finish, lasts all day and doesn't dry my skin out too much, nor is it oily. It also comes as a compact which means I can bring it with me wherever I go and use it when needs be. What more could you want? Marie I had been using a much more expensive powder until recently, when my beautician sister told me in typically blunt fashion she didn't like it and dragged me into Boots to buy some of Collection 2000 Sheer Loose Powder (€4.20). With the cheap price tag, I was very skeptical but this is a fantastic product. It sets your make-up, gets rid of shine, lasts all day and has a beautifully translucent finish. I won't be changing any time soon! Apply with a good make-up brush rather than the supplied puff for a more even finish.   Liz I'm not a big fan of compact powder on my skin as I tend to break out when I use it. I tend to just dust some loose powder over my nose and forehead to keep the shine at bay. I'm quite a big fan of the Natural Collection Loose Powder, in Neutral Translucent. It's not heavy on the skin and it's great value at €2.49.  Una Light and silky, this loose powder from NARS (€37) is really great at setting make-up and gives you an incredibly natural look. Though you're forking out a bit more, I think it's worth it because it manages to absorb excess oils and keeps you looking fresh.​  Sue My favourite is Max Factor Loose Powder. It's priced around €11.30, feels really light but covers really well and takes down shine a lot! Plus, it hasn't broken in my bag which is always a bonus. Cathy I'm always on the hunt for a good powder as my skin can be quite shiny at times, never a good look. There's nothing worse than having your make up slide off halfway through the night, as those of us who enjoy a turn on the dancefloor will agree. I've tried a fair few powders including Chanel and MAC, all of which were grand but I'm still searching for that hero powder of powders. At the moment, I'm using Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder (€5.99) and I have to say it's working just as well as any expensive products I've used.   Grace It's not a powder but it is a wonder product. Urban Decay: All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray (€22) is one of my favourites. It's a microfine weightless mist that fixes makeup for an entire day/night. The greatest thing about the spray is that is maintains that just-applied look.
