For those who are sporting extensions, or even thinking about it, Anna Johnson from Hotloxshair.com has given us this handy guide to keeping your pimped-up tresses in tip-top shape:

 

1. Brush your hair thoroughly each daily. Make sure to check extensions are separate and you can run your fingers through your hair at least once a week.
2. Don't over wash extensions. 2-3 times per week is perfect. Save blow-drying time by just washing your own hair on top daily if it gets oily.
3. Blow-dry your extensions and your own hair thoroughly after washing. If you leave damp sections they can cause tangling so make sure to keep your hair, in between extensions, smooth and dry.
4. Use good products on your hair. Leave in conditioners and light Moroccan oil are great especially for blondes. Tying your hair up in a loose plait or bun will also keep hair silkier.
5. Don't remove your extensions yourself unless you know what you're doing. Book in for a proper removal within your recommend wear time.
6. Extensions should not be left in more than 3-4 months. Your own hair sheds daily and these hairs are trapped in by extensions. They need to be brushed out every 3-4 months before they become matted.
