Brush Up On How to Take Care of Your Makeup Brushes

Whether you use them for special occasions or every day, it is important to maintain your makeup brushes properly.

Not only will it keep them feeling as soft as the day you bought them but it also prevents your skin from suffering at the hands of an unclean brush.

Here are ten tips on how to keep them in tiptop condition:

1. Tap or wipe off excess product after you use them to prevent build-up and bacteria

2. Clean your brushes at least once a month if not once a week

3. Spritz your brushes with water between cleans to keep them in good condition

4. Use a makeup brush cleanser or baby shampoo to wash them and maintain their softness

5. Rinse your brushes with warm water before shampooing them

6. Put the shampoo in the palm of your hand and move the brush around in circles until clean

7. Use a clean towel to squeeze out excess water and restore the natural shape of the brush

8. Allow the brushes to dry completely before you use them again

9. Don’t leave your makeup brushes to dry upright as this can lead to rusty handles

10. If you store your brushes in a case, make sure you give it a regular clean as well
