The girl you haven't spoken to in six years who clogs your newsfeed with photo after photo of her nieces and nephews. The lad who you went on one date with who still for some reason likes all of your new profile pictures. These are just a small selection of the people who we'd rather not see all over our Facebook timelines. And while the social media site has already graced us with the 'unfollow' button (thank god), you can never have enough ways to ignore people. Which is why they are now testing out a new 'snooze' button on a few selected profiles. Unlike the unfollow button which allows you to avoid every single post a person shares until the end of time, the snooze button lets users unfollow an account's activity for a short period of time. https://twitter.com/super_geek_fr/status/909703660585746433 Imagine all your mates are going on a holiday you couldn't afford. Snooze every single one of them until they land back home. Consider some guy going on a rant about something unimportant. Snooze until he's calmed down and stopped clogging up your feed with his nonsense. According to Tech Crunch, the snooze button will allow you to ignore a person for 24 hours, one week, or 30 days, depending on how irritating you think they're going to be during that time. However, the snooze button will also encourage pages and businesses to stop spamming user's feeds. Even though nobody's going to be told that they've been snoozed, the assumption could be there if popular meme pages stop receiving the casual 70,000 likes per post they're used to. Facebook has not yet said when they plan to roll out the snooze button to all profiles, but we're hoping it's soon. There's only so much Minions content we can take.
