Chanel We couldn’t discuss the letter C without including the fabulous Coco Chanel. The fashion house Chanel was founded in 1909 in Paris but its legacy soon spread worldwide. Gabrielle Chanel began her magnificent empire by opening a millinery shop: then came the little black dress, ladylike skirt suits and Chanel No.5. Today, Karl Lagerfeld can be credited with bringing another dynamic to the brand. It’s modern and fresh but still retains the innate elegant chic that Chanel is renowned for. Carolina Herrera Carolina Herrera is an American-Venezuelan fashion designer, her label began prominent in the 1980s when publications such as Tatler and and Women’s Wear Daily wrote about it. Much was made of the ‘well designed sleeves’ and it wasn’t long before Carolina had a number of notable clients including Jacqueline Onassis, who asked her to design a wedding dress for her daughter Caroline’s wedding. She now dresses Renée Zellweger and Michelle Obama, among other famous faces. Cosmpolitan Cosmopolitan is a style bible, giving a monthly low-down on new trends, bargain buys and what exactly is happening with the fash pack. Interestingly, Cosmo began in 1886 in the US as a family magazine, before changing to a literary publication. During the 60s it evolved into the magazine we know and love. Today, it is available in 110 countries and in 35 different languages. Not too shabby, then… Culottes Culottes, you either love or hate them. They are having a moment this season and can be purchased in most high-street shops, including Topshop and Zara. The mid-length trousers featured strongly in Victoria Beckham’s SS14 show, with the lady herself even donning a pair. Try a neutral colour teamed with a white shirt and pointed stilettos for city girl chic.
