Yeah, actual lasers.

Take a look down at your jeans there now. Chances are you're wearing some, probably. Have you any idea how those jeans were made? Do you know how those distressed patterns were put in there, how they were stitched together, or how they get that worn look? Maybe you did, maybe you didn't, either way this little tidbit of information will probably be of interest to you, because Levi's are trialling out making their jeans using lasers and technology has gone too far. Or not far enough. Who can say for sure? According to Engadget, Levi's are testing out their Project FLX which takes pictures of jeans and then imprints the marks of wear onto the jeans using the laser. This process is considerably quicker than the way jeans are usually created - and it involves far fewer chemicals, so it's way better for the environment. Hooray! That being said, the way Levi's traditionally makes jeans involves a human-led based process. This new laser method will cut the production time, but it will also mean less people working to create the jeans we all know and love. Levi's Project FLX is currently in the works too meaning that we may only have to wait two years before we're all wearing laser made jeans. Sound.
