When you think Tommy Hilfiger, chances are you think two things: ‘preppy’ and ‘All-American’. While this heritage brand never wavers from that core, we got a sneak peek at the Autumn/Winter collection from 2013 and found it to be a very pleasant surprise.
If you’ve left TH behind since your ‘outlet shopping in America’ J1 days, or your last bottle of Tommy Girl perfume (we all owned it), then it might be time to take a closer look.
For starters, you won’t be finding a room full of red, white and blue. The collection currently making its way into stores is full of bright oranges, deep wines and bottle greens, bang on trend for the coming months. The whole inspiration is still very much American College Life, but for this time out TH has turned up the ‘funk’ dial, and the collection is cooler than anything we’ve seen from the brand in years.
We’ll take at look at the lustworthy shoes and bags in coming weeks, but the star of the A/W show for us was the cover-ups. The coats and jackets for this season are divine; the only problem we’re having is deciding on which one to break open the piggy bank for. They’re not cheap, but quality coats and boots especially are well worth an investment, so if you can stretch to the spend you know you’ll have your purchase sitting pretty in your wardrobe for seasons and seasons to come. Have a flick through the gallery above for five of our favourites.
