How this trend didn't catch on, we’ll never understand…
Check out the new accessories China is going mad over; tights designed to look as though your legs haven’t seen a drop of wax or the glint or a razor blade since the dawn of time. Since we’ve often used tights to conceal the fact that we might be holding on to some fuzz, it seems like quite the game of opposites. We did a little digging, and discovered that hairy leg tights were a bit of a ‘thing’ in October 2010 when American retailer J Crew shared images of a model in ‘fawn’ tights, that just served to make her legs look especially hairy, somewhat like those of an actual fawn. Those images didn't last long, but it seems the look didn't truly die.
Now, the accessories pictured above have become a Chinese sensation, going viral on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter - purports to promote 'hairy stockings', designed to ‘keep perverts away’.
The translated post accompanying the image reads; ''Super sexy, summertime anti-pervert full-leg-of-hair stockings, essential for young girls going out.''
Essential. Indeed.
