This week we are teaming up with Jacamo.ie to find the perfect date night outfit, and instead of focusing on our lovely selves, we are concentrating on the boys.

Our bros over at JOE.ie have picked an outfit a guy might wear on a first date and just in case they need a female touch, we said we would pitch in with a few style ideas of our own.

First impressions are very important and if he gets it right from the start, a second date is a lot more likely.

With that in mind, here’s an example of a smart yet laid-back first date outfit. Sharp and stylish, we’re not sure we could resist a guy who could dress this snappily.

A well-cut blazer adds a polished touch to any ensemble, for both males and females alike. We love this navy shade as it can be matched with pretty much anything. Style might be an alien language to some men but kit them out in a piece like this and they can fake their fashion prowess very easily. Chinos are a staple piece for men with a little style know-how. We’re not talking Vogue credentials or anything but they are more fashion forward than typical denim jeans. Team these with a logo tee or a short-sleeved shirt and it’s an on-trend look made very simple.

A denim shirt is an essential style item for both the male and female wardrobe. Buttoned down, rolled up, a sharp collar…there a number of different ways to style something as versatile as this. This light washed shirt is relaxed but the Aztec print keeps it edgy and modern.

The shoes a man wears can either give him serious brownie points or prove a massive turn-off. With that in mind, picking footwear for a first date isn’t the easiest of tasks. These trainers are cool but casual, ideal for dinner, drinks or even a cinema date.
