Shoes, glorious shoes… 

On Tuesday of this week many ladies across Ireland were heading back to the grindstone after a long weekend of fun, but for Her.ie and some of our dedicated readers, there was a truly lovely afternoon in store. 

We paired up with The Shoe Garden in Arnotts to welcome designer Lucy Choi to the little piece of shoe heaven her designs occupy in the Dublin Department Store. 

There were 10,000 square feet of shoes to fawn over, but all eyes were on the Lucy Choi London selection. 

While Prosecco and shoe-shaped cookies were served to guests, Her.ie editor Michelle Mc Mahon took to the stage to introduce Lucy to her fans and chat about inspiration, timeless fashion, and style icons. 

Lovely Lucy told us that her brand ethos is affordable luxury, which the many women in the audience showed their appreciation for enthusiastically!

Lucy told fans that her ‘Rock and Royal’ line is inspired by everyone from Kate Moss (the rock!) to Kate Middleton (the royal!). She reserved lavish praise for the style of Irish women, noting that the Irish women love their high heels. A quick poll of the women gathered found that the average woman present had over twenty pairs of high heels in her collection, so Lucy seemed right on the money there! 

As for stylish Irish women she’d like to see in her designs? Lucy opted for one of Ireland’s brightest rising stars, actress Saoirse Ronan, and television presenter Kathryn Thomas. 

While Lucy chatted, some of Ireland’s top models walked her shoes – a selection of high heels, mid heels and flats, around the store so that onlookers could see the stunning designs up close. 

Lucy enthused about the mid heels in particular, describing them as perfect for those occasions where you want to look elegant and glamorous, but still be able to stay standing all day or dance until four in the morning - a sentiment we can get on board with!

It was then time to choose two women from the audience to win their very own pair of shoes from the collection, and Mary Lanvin and Martha Greene were the lucky ladies on the day. Both were delighted with the win, and spent a considerable amount of time deciding which pair they’d like to take home! 

As the last of the Prosecco was sipped and the afternoon event came to a close, designer Lucy chatted with the numerous Arnotts shoppers present, giving advice on sizes, heel heights, dressing to match outfits and much more. 

Though it was her first visit to Dublin, she swears there will be many more, and in the meantime you can see her designs in store at The Shoe Garden at Arnotts now.
