The temperatures are getting warmer, the sun is out and there are a whole load of fashion trends we're going to want to get behind this summer.
If recent weather is anything to go by, Ireland is set to be in for a summer full of day drinking and endless walks through parks – so we need to dress for the occasion.
If you're unprepared for this season in the wardrobe department and are in need of some inspiration, look no further as we have all you need to keep in mind when filling your Summer 2023 closet.
Thankfully, the fashion industry is always six months ahead of schedule, so we've had a little bit of time to go through runways and street style to pick out the items of clothing that will really hit this year.
Of course, when we see the clothing on a runway we can never imagine ourselves wearing it. The runway is always a more extreme version of the clothing that ends up on our high street.
But if anything, it's a great way for us to pick out what trends are going to be huge this season and everything you need to watch out for.
To make things easier for your next shopping trip, we've narrowed down some of this season's biggest trends and everything you need to get your hands on.
Florals
Florals are always a summer hit but this year, we're doing them a little differently. Going above and beyond with flower power, the new take on this trend sees more 3D florals – think flowers literally emerging from any item of clothing possible.

This trend was a massive hit on the YSL runway as well as Nensi Dojaka, Prada and Carolina Herrera.
Sheer
Sheer and mesh are also summer staples. But like florals, they're having a very different moment this year.

Sheer overlays for dresses are the next big thing, draping over a simple slip dress to give a more elevated look to something we all have in our wardrobes.
Cobalt blue
Last year it was fuchsia pink, this year the bright colour taking over is cobalt blue – and it is everywhere.

Alexander McQueen has been at the helm of this. Cobalt blue is appearing in almost every piece of clothing we can get our hands on. This vibrant shade is eye-catching and glamorous, but still extremely wearable on a day to day basis.
Boudoir dresses
This is easily our favourite of the season, and we hope it's here to stay. Slip dresses are always a summer must have but this year, they are incorporating boudoir detailing to give a sexier look.

Adding lace to these dresses changes the look completely and gives a new take on classic evening wear – it's also a lot less fabric making them ideal for this summer heat.
Black
Okay, hear us out. Black is easily the most versatile colour in existence, but making it work in the summer heat is a challenge in itself.

While we typically think of pastels and neon, black was one colour constantly popping up on various runways. It didn't matter which item of clothing it was, black snuck its way in. Dior, Louis Vuitton, Versace, Givenchy; each major fashion house was hopping on board for this trend.
Baby pink
If black is a colour you seriously can't see yourself even attempting in this heat, baby pink might be your best bet.

Pastels in some form are always going to make it onto the Spring/Summer runways, so it's no surprise baby pink is here. Like cobalt blue and black, it's appearing on every type of clothing imaginable and is definitely the answer if you're looking to keep your wardrobe lighter.
Summer sequins
Normally when we add sequins on clothing, it's for Christmas. Usually reserved for the festive period, sequins are coming out of their shell and getting new life for the summer.

Unlike the darker colours we see in the winter, fashion houses are incorporating pastels, whites and silvers to their sequin collections to ensure nobody is confused as to what time of the year it is.
