Now, we know we should always buy our designer bags from the retailer but when you spot one in a vintage store for less than cost price, it's hard to say no. However, these bags are still expensive so it is important to make sure you are getting an authentic bag for your money's worth. Introducing Entrupy, a new app designed to help you spot a fake in a matter of minutes. One catch though, you do need to get a microscopic camera attachment for the app to work but if you, like many of us are a handbag connoisseur, then it's well worth the spend. Basically, the camera magnifies objects 260 times, bringing to light features that would otherwise be invisible to the human eye. It detects and looks for holographic logos and microprinting that are often embedded into real bags. It also hunts for paint overlaps and tiny mistakes in leather grain which are common on fakes. According to Bloomberg: "Tens of millions of photographs from about 30,000 different handbags and wallets" are on the app's database with 98% accuracy for 11 branded bags which include Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Hermes. The app technology is also in the process to be tested for authenticity of diamonds, phones and chargers, porcelain and even shoes. So this could become a very nifty best friend.
