The strong winds and driving rain brought on by Storm Doris earlier this week have eased since the chaos of Wednesday night and Thursday morning, but the weather in Ireland isn’t about to improve spectacularly anytime soon.
According to Met Éireann, after a decent start to Friday, which will be cold but mainly dry with plenty of sunny patches, patches of rain and drizzle will develop on a fairly mild night, with temperatures reaching highs of 10 degrees.
It’s Saturday when the rough stuff will start, with heavy and persistent rain promised throughout the country in the morning, before some sunny spells develop in the afternoon.
Saturday night will get pretty cold, with temperatures dropping to as low as 2 degrees, before rain and strong winds take hold again on Sunday after a decent start to the morning in places, particularly in the east of the country.
It will become drier approaching Sunday night but it will also become colder too, with temperatures forecast to drop to as low as -1 in places and the possibility of wintry showers in the west.
The early forecast for next week sounds like it’s going to be cold and miserable too; it might be worth going into hibernation until sometime around St. Patrick’s Day.
