A woman has died after being thrown from a swing chair funfair ride in France.
The 24-year-old was sitting in a pod-like chair with another women over 10 metres above the ground, when the pair were flung from the ride.
Emergency services arrived to the funfair in the central France town of Firminy last night, October 14.
One woman was dead and the other was seriously injured.
Local authorities told AFP that four people were taken into custody following the incident. The injured woman was taken to hospital.
The incident occurred during high winds.
The Firminy funfair is one of the biggest annual events in France with an average of 100,000 visitors per year and over 250 attractions.
The ride the women fell from is comprised of several pods attached to a central mast which they spin around 10 metres off the ground.
Multiple rides in the funfair are now under lockdown while the cause of the incident is determined.
