Gardaí in Tipperary discovered the body of a man in Roscrea, County Tipperary around 2.30am on Sunday morning.
The man had suffered stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man was in his early 40s.
A woman in her mid-40s was arrested shortly after the incident at The Maltings, and she has been detained at Nenagh Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
The scene has been preserved and the Offices of the State Pathologist has been notified.
