Various weather warnings have been issued ahead of the August bank holiday weekend as heavy rain is expected to impact most of the country.

Covering most counties, a yellow rain warning has been issued for Connacht and Cavan from 2pm on Friday and lasting until 9am on Saturday. A yellow rain warning will also be in place for Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Monaghan from 6pm on Friday until 1pm on Saturday. This is set to be in place from 1am to midday on Saturday. Anyone travelling during the weekend are urged to take more caution on the roads. Friday is expected to be mainly dry with some scattered showers, with temperatures between 16 and 18 degrees. Saturday will be windy and rainy throughout the country which a slightly brighter day on Sunday, with temperatures between 16 to 20 degrees. The rain will make its return on Monday and spread northwards during the day.
