This incredible footage of a one-year-old elephant facing off against a pride of lions was captured at Norman Carr Safaris Chinzombo Camp in Zambia.
Journalist Jesse Nash captured the nail-biting scenes, sharing them with The New York Post.
Nash was amongst a group on a game drive when they spotted the cats close in on the young calf.
As Nash's companions echo viewer sentiments, ("Where are the other elephants, for God’s sake?”), the clever calf never gives in to the pride of hungry beasts.
According to the newspaper, the courageous elephant calf has since been reunited with his herd and has earned the nickname Hercules in the camp for his bravery.
