Glastonbury 2020 has been cancelled.

Emily and Michael Eavis have shared a statement to confirm that the 2020 festival will not be going ahead due to the escalation of Covid-19. Glastofest was due to celebrate its 50th anniversary this year but organisers say cancelling is "their only viable option" at this point. In the lengthy statement, it's said that the decision was made before April as this was when festival-goers were due to pay the balance on their tickets. Although Emily and Michael very much hope that "the situation in the UK will have improved enormously by the end of June", it is no longer possible to carry out the preparation work needed to get the site ready. The UK government recently said that large gatherings should be cancelled and with these restrictions in place, the decision to cancel was necessary. People who have already paid deposits can either have them returned or let them roll over to the 2021 festival, guaranteeing a ticket for next year.
