UK Met Office issue ‘danger to life’ weather warning as temperatures hit record low

The Met Office in the UK has issued an amber weather warning for snow.

The weather warning is valid for London, south east and south west England, and Wales from 2pm to 9pm on Thursday. An amber alert in the UK means potential risk to life and property, road closures, travel delays, and loss of power and electricity. This comes as substantial snowfall is expected in the affected areas this afternoon. "Three to seven centimetres is likely to accumulate quickly - within two to three hours - with up to 10cm (3.9in) in some places," said the Met Office. The public has been advised to make plans and prepare for the snow, particularly in more rural areas where risk of being cut off from towns and cities is higher. The rest of the UK is currently experiencing a yellow weather warning for snow, ice, and wind. The Met Office said yesterday to expect the warning to be upgraded following more snow fall.
