A wet weekend is in store for many parts of the country as two separate weather warnings are in effect. A Status Yellow thunderstorm and rain warning is in place for Connacht, Ulster, north Leinster and north Munster. The warning is valid from 9am on Friday until 9am on Saturday morning. Met Éireann has said the thunderstorm activity combined with the risk of hail and longer spells of shower over Kerry, Limerick, Clare and Tipperary will lead to some localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions. Similarly, the Met Office has issued a yellow thunderstorm warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. The warning is valid from 4am on Friday and remains active until Saturday night. The Met Office said that heavy, slow-moving showers, some thundery, may cause travel disruption and flooding in a few places. Across Ireland on Friday, thundery outbreaks of rain will occur bringing hazardous driving conditions and the ongoing risk of spot flooding. However, the best of the drier spells will be across the south and southeast earlier in the day. There will be blustery outbreaks of rain on Saturday, merging into longer spells of rain in places. This will bring the risk of further spot flooding and possible thunderstorms, although the south of the country is likely to miss the worst of it and experience some bright and dry conditions. Sunday will see showery conditions continuing, heaviest and most frequent over the northern half of the country with possible thunderstorm activity. But it will be drier elsewhere with sunny spells and scattered showers.
