We had been given plenty of warning, but everyone was still taken a little off guard by the force of Storm Doris, which was has caused power outages, travel chaos and the cancellation of a number of flights between Ireland and the UK on Thursday.
According to Met Éireann, the strong winds will moderate throughout the day on Thursday, with sharp frost and wintry showers set to follow later today in what has been a truly miserable week thus far.
While the storm would have kept many awake in their beds overnight, the first glimpse that Irish people got of Storm Doris was on Thursday morning and naturally, they took to social media to document their emotions.
Some were fearful, others documented the difficulties it posed while getting to work and, of course, others still were just keen to take the piss.
