Turkish news agency Anadolu reports that an explosion occurred in the Güvenpark in the Kızılay district in central Ankara around 6:35pm local time today.
No details have been released about the blast, with authorities saying that the focus is on the well-being of the victims.
A senior Turkish official has said: "It's too early to talk about who carried out this attack. The investigation is ongoing.
"Our priority right now is the wounded."
It is believed the explosion targeted a transportation hub where numerous bus stops and a metro station are located.
Just last week, the U.S. Embassy in Ankara warned of a possible terrorist plot to strike government buildings in the capital's Bahcelievler neighborhood, which is just a short distance from where today's explosion occurred, according to CNN.
