Met Éireann has issued a status yellow thunderstorm warning for the entire country from 6am on Thursday. The warning will be in effect from 6am until 7pm on Thursday across all counties in Ireland and Northern Ireland with a risk of thundery spells of rain, lightning and local hail throughout the day. The forecaster is also urging people to be cautious as there may be localised flooding. Meanwhile, highest temperatures will reach 16 to 20 degrees. As indicated by the warning, the weather for the rest of the week is set to be fairly unsettled, with widespread heavy or thundery showers and a continued risk of spot flooding. Friday will see bright spells and showers, some heavy with the risk of thunderstorms. Some of the showers will merge into longer spells of rain at times in Ulster with the risk of spot flooding and highest temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees. However, on Saturday there will be some sunny spells mixed in before showers become widespread once again, with isolated thunderstorms possibly bringing the risk of spot flooding. There will be little change on Sunday with a mix of bright or sunny spells and showers, some of them heavy, with a continuing risk of thundery downpours and spot flooding. However, it will be somewhat drier and brighter in Munster, with highest temperatures reaching 15 to 19 degrees. Monday will also see more sunny spells and scattered showers, although it will be less heavy than previous days with highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees. Current indications are for conditions to remain unsettled and changeable with occasional spells of wet weather during the rest of next week.
