Here we go again.

Those who underestimated Storm Emma might be eating their words right about now because this is every bit the extraordinary event that was predicted. Although some counties have had the status red weather warning downgraded to orange, others remain within the severe bracket. Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath and Wexford have all been issued with a fresh red weather warning from 4 pm this evening until 9 am tomorrow morning. The update from the national forecaster is as follows:

"Snow accumulations continuing to increase significantly due to further heavy falls of snow".

So if you had plans to leave home this evening, you might want to rethink them on account of the latest information from Met Éireann. There's also an orange warning in place for Munster, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath, Carlow, Galway, Cavan, Monaghan and Kilkenny. Eastern and southern areas are likely to feel the brunt of the snow and flooding could occur in eastern parts over the coming days.

Continuing very cold & windy with further falls of snow, leading to further accumulations & icy conditions. The snow will be heaviest in eastern and southern areas.
