The show was written by South Park and Team America creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with Robert Lopez who co-created Avenue Q.
That line up should give you an idea of the tone of The Book of Mormon, which is a satirical take – to put it very mildly – on the lives of young Mormon missionaries.
The story follows two missionaries, the charming, high-achieving Elder Price and sweet but awkward Elder Cunningham who get sent to a remote village in Uganda to spread the word of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
I saw the show in London and it's packed with 'I can't believe they can get away with saying that' jokes that will leave some audience members crying with laughter and others of a more sensitive disposition unimpressed. In my case, my ribs were sore by the interval, while an older couple seated near to me didn't come back for the second half. Probably not safe for your granny.
