Miah said she felt like she was laying there for hours.

An 11-year-old student has opened up about how she "played dead" to survive the shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. Fourth grade student Miah Cerrillo told CNN her class had been watching Lilo and Stitch as part of an end of the year celebration when the shooter came into the classroom. Miah said they heard the shooter was in the school, and the teacher went to secure the door, but by the time she got over he was standing right there. Once inside, he looked the teacher in the eye and said "good night" before fatally shooting her. He fired shots into the classroom, and she said bullets flew by her, with fragments hitting her shoulders and head. The gunman went into an adjoining classroom and opened fire. She put her hands in her friend’s blood, who she thought was dead, and smeared it all over herself so she could pretend to be dead if the gunman came back into the room. She and another friend then took their teacher’s cellphone and called 911 for help. She said she repeatedly told the dispatcher: "Please send help because we’re in trouble." The 11-year-old said that, at the time, they thought police just hadn’t made it to the school yet, but later found out they were outside. Miah said it felt like three hours that she lay there, covered in her classmate's blood. She told CNN she hoped sharing her story would help people "really realise" what it’s like being in a school shooting. Miah's mother added that her daughter is traumatised and can't sleep. The child's parents have started a GoFundMe to help pay for her therapy. In her interview with CNN, she declined speaking with any men because of what happened, and did not want to appear on camera.
