A survey published by insurance company AA has revealed that drivers in Cork and Dublin are more likely to speed than drivers elsewhere in the country.
The survey, which also revealed that more than 20% of Irish motorists broke the speed limit in 2017, had over 7,000 participants.
In both Cork and Dublin, only one third of drivers claimed to have never broken the speed limit, according to The Journal.
Ulster respondents showed by far the lowest level of speeding for February 2017, with only 16% of the sample saying that they had sped in the last month. This is compared to 19.8% in Connacht, 21.7% in Munster and 22.2% in Leinster.
Dublin itself was slightly higher than the Leinster average at 22.5%, while Cork drivers were the worst culprits: 23.6% of respondents from Cork said they had driven too fast in the past four weeks.
The survey further suggests that men are more likely to break the speed limit than women, with 40% of women claiming they'd never sped compared to 28% of men.
