Ireland could be facing stormy conditions in the next few days as long-range weather maps show strong wind and heavy rain heading our way.

A low pressure system can be seen arriving over us from the south west coast early next week. It’s due to bring with it wet and windy conditions. Weather expert, Alan O’Reilly noted that while there is uncertainty this far out and that changes could be seen before we reach next week, some forecasts show Tuesday as the potential day of arrival. He took to Twitter and wrote: “Latest run once again develops that low system Tuesday and brings it right over Ireland with awful wind and rain. “GFS model shows nothing though. Is the recently upgraded ECMWF model onto something or is it a very poor start to the upgraded model? We shall see!”

According to Met Eireann’s forecast, Tuesday is also the day that stormy conditions could hit. This weekend’s weather is set to be up and down with rain at times and high temperatures leading into a very unsettled week next week. Here’s what the Irish forecast says: Friday Friday will be humid and mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Highest temperatures of 16C to 20C with moderate to fresh westerly winds. Saturday Saturday will be a bright, fresh, blustery day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 15C degrees in the northwest to 20C dgrees in the southeast with fresh, gusty westerly winds. Sunday Sunday will be a breezy or blustery day with sunny spells and scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 15C to 20C, coolest in the west and north and warmest in the southeast with moderate to fresh and gusty west to northwest winds” Monday Monday will be mostly cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain at times, especially in the west and northwest. It will be less windy than the weekend with light to moderate southwest winds and highs of 17C to 21C. Tuesday On Tuesday, persistent or heavy rain will spread northeastwards over Ireland and will continue for much of Tuesday night and then clear to the northeast. Highest temperatures of 14C to 18C degrees with fresh southeasterly winds, later becoming northwesterly. Wednesday Wednesday will bring sunny spells and showers. Highest temperatures of 14C to 18C with fresh, gusty west to northwest winds. Further outlook The rest of next week will continue unsettled with rain or showers at times. It looks like becoming warmer with temperatures in the high teens or low twenties.
