Following the most recent weather warning that was issued for Clare, Kerry, and Galway, the status yellow rainfall warning has now been extended to include Donegal and the rest of Connacht. If you're living in Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Kerry, Clare, or Donegal, a status yellow rainfall warning is in place. The warning is valid from 14:00 on Sunday, 4 August until 21:00 on the same day. In terms of the conditions that are expected to arrive, Met Éireann have said "heavy rain is expected during Sunday afternoon and evening, with 20-30 mm falling over a short period of time." As for the rest of the country, today will start mainly dry with bright or sunny spells. However, the west and southwest showers will develop with thunderstorms expected through the western half of the country through the late morning and early afternoon, moving northwards through Connacht and Ulster. These storms will bring downpours which will result in large amounts of rain falling in short periods of time, reducing visibility on roads and possibly including hail and lightening. To the east, the afternoon will be mostly dry with sunny spells, with showers in the evening, some heavy with a risk of thunder. As for Sunday night, the showers will mostly clear away, returning to western coasts by morning.
