Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for Cork and Waterford over flooding fears.
Valid from 9pm on Friday until 8am on Saturday, it warns that 20mm to 30mm of rainfall will fall over a short period of time overnight.
Met Éireann has said this "may cause localised flooding" in the counties.
According to the forecaster, the rain will gradually clear throughout Saturday morning with sunny spells and scattered showers expected after.
Met Éireann says it will be a milder day than recent conditions, with temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate to occasionally fresh breezes.
However, Sunday will be a blustery day with widespread showers turning heavy at times, particularly over the western half of the country, bringing the risk of hail.
Temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees are expected, along with fresh winds.
Met Éireann's outlook for the next few days reads: "Low pressure will dominate our weather in the days ahead.
"This will bring generally unsettled conditions, with widespread heavy showers but also slightly milder weather."
