For gym-goers, winter is no different to any other time of year. But if you love your outdoor runs, jogs or walks, it can be a bit of a problem. The crisp, fresh air of early autumn is perfect — we can get in a longer run without drenching ourselves in sweat. But as the shorter days approach, it gets much less pleasant and we might even need to err on the side of caution. If the post-workout endorphins aren't enough to get you started, then we have the solution. As presenting partner of parkrun Ireland, Vhi are now rewarding customers who take part in weekly parkruns around the country. parkrun is a worldwide movement, with 100 parkruns held every Saturday around Ireland from 9:30am at designated locations from Bere Island to Ballina to Ballinteer. It's open to people of every age and every fitness level, so you'll have loads of company without the pressure of going beyond your limits. This programme gives participants the opportunity to win some lovely rewards simply for taking part. It doesn't matter if you walk, run, or jog. The rewards will be pretty cool too — think sports towels, phone pouches (how handy!) and LED armbands. Claiming your rewards is really simple and you can start earning them from your very first parkrun. Sign up by downloading the Vhi app and linking your Vhi account to your parkrun account. If you're not a parkrun member — no worries. Anyone can join and it's entirely free! Now here's the fun part. To start earning rewards go to, and complete, your local parkrun. You can walk it, run it, skip it — it doesn't matter. Just so long as you get those 5ks done. Once the reward has been unlocked and claimed, it will be sent to your door in five to 10 days. Simples.
