Award-wininng actress Sofía Vergara is currently tied up in one of the most controversial legal cases ever. It all started when Vergara and her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb fertilised embryos in 2013. When the couple split, Loeb sued Vergara for custody of the embryos. Now the case has taken an insane turn with a right-to-live lawsuit being filed on behalf of the fertilized eggs against their would-be-mom. The female embryos are listed as plaintiffs “Emma’’ and “Isabella” in Louisiana court papers and a “trustee,’’ for the embryos, James Charbonnet, is also listed as a plaintiff. According to reports, the suit claims that, by not completing the pregnancy, Emma and Isabella have been deprived of an inheritance from a trust that has been created for them in Louisiana. According to Page Six, the suit requests that the frozen embryos be given to Loeb so that he can continue the procedure with a surrogate parent and then they can live and receive the trust fund that has been set up for them. The suit claims Vergara is refusing “to allow her daughters Emma and Isabella to continue their development, so they remain frozen in a tank.” In total, the couple create five embryos, three of which were used during two separate rounds of IVF. Both rounds failed. After the couple split, Loeb allegedly sent a text to Vergara saying We still have those 2 frozen babys.” In a previous suit, Loeb fought for the protection of the embryos on his beliefs that life should not be destroyed. The judge ruled in favour of Vergara when her team identified two of Loeb’s previous lovers who underwent abortions after he impregnated them. The new lawsuit says Loeb should have full custody over the embryos and be granted the “authority to release them for transfer, continued development, and birth.” The suit also demands that Vergara be held responsible for any costs of keeping “Emma” and “Isabella” frozen.
