The skeletal remains of six people have been found under a Cork pub.
Partial remains were first discovered under the site of the city's old popular music venue, Nancy Spain's on Barrack's Street, earlier this month.
The site is in the process of being demolished by the council to make way for social housing. Gardaí said at the time that the remains were thought to be at least 70 years old.
Archaeologist Ciara Bret told
the Irish Examiner that the fragmentary skeletal remains of six people have since been uncovered at the site, and that they are thought to date from the 18th century or earlier.
Nancy Spain's pub is located in the mediaeval part of Cork City. The pub, which closed 10 years ago, was a popular spot for musicians and one of the city's best known venues.
All works carried out in the area are being archaeologically monitored.
Gardaí announced the discovery of human remains earlier this month. They later stated that the find was an
"archaeological" one and no longer of relevance to a criminal investigation.
