At least seven people have been killed and 19 others are missing after a boat capsized on the Danube river in Budapest. 30 tourists and three tour guides, as well two Hungarian crew members, were on the boat when it was hit by another vessel while moored. The boat reportedly collided with another tourist vessel near the Hungarian parliament building, then turned over on the river. In recent days, the Danube has been flooding due to a rainstorm in the Hungarian capital, with very strong currents in the river. 33 people, mostly tourists from South Korea, were on board the boat when it collided with the other vessel. Mihaly Toth, a spokesman for the boat's owner, told MTI, the local news agency, that the boat - the Mermaid - had sunk. The incident occurred at about 1opm local time (8pm GMT) on Wednesday evening. South Korea's Foreign Ministry said that 33 of its citizens were on the boat and that 19 people were still missing. Reuters confirmed that seven of the South Korean nationals were rescued, seven died and 19 were missing. The two crew members were identified as Hungarian. A massive rescue effort is currently under way with boats, divers, spotlights, and radars all scanning the river. The Danube's flooding and currents have made rescue efforts extremely difficult and rescue teams have warned that as more time passes, the strong currents would carry people further downstream, reducing the chances of finding survivors. The South Korean government are sending a team of officials to Budapest to provide counselling for the victims' families.
