Oh, we do love a good statement piece!
This one, has a bit of a twist however. It’s a tattoo, it’s temporary and it’s making a permanent impact on people’s lives.
If you’ve seen anyone about town, sporting one of these on their arm, it means they’ve decided to take part in the Irish Heart Foundation’s Show Some Heart campaign.
The campaign has been HUGE so far this February - the month we all show some love (or a bit of heart) for Valentine’s Day.
The purpose of the tattoo initiative is to fight heart disease through increased awareness and preventative measures. Heart disease and stroke are the most common causes of death in our country, with 80 percent of cases being preventable under the age of 65.
The stunning tattoos are super easy to get your mitts on too. Next time you’re getting that coffee pick-me-up at Insomnia or Daybreak - be sure to get your tattoo too. It makes a world of difference to those that need our help most, raising vital funds to encourage positive change in people’s lifestyles, and providing better outcomes for those affected by heart disease and stroke. You can also get your tattoo on IrishHeart.ie. And remember - it only costs you €2 to purchase!
They’re asking everyone to Show Some Heart this Valentine’s by getting themselves the temporary tattoo that we can all be incredibly proud to flaunt. Not least because of the great principle behind it, but also because of its stunning design by award-winning graphic designer Annie Atkins.
Annie has created graphic designs for TV and films including Room, Bridge of Spies, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Stephen Spielberg’s New York to name a few… and now our tattoos! Quite the résumé.
So far, we’ve seen outstanding support from the public and from RTÉ 2fm radio - hosts Nicky Byrne, Bláthnaid Treacy, Eoghan McDermott, Tracy Clifford and Keith Walsh have been only too delighted to show off their latest (faux) ink.
