The incentive was made to tackle disorderly passenger behaviour

They said that this initiative will tackle the rise of disruptive behaviour we've seen in the past.

A Ryanair spokesperson stated:

“It is unacceptable that passengers are made suffer unnecessary disruption because of one unruly passenger’s behaviour."

"To help ensure that our passengers and crew travel in a comfortable and stress-free environment,"

"Without unnecessary disruption caused by a tiny number of unruly passengers,"

"We have introduced a €500 fine, which will be issued to any passengers offloaded from aircraft as a result of their misconduct."

"While these are isolated events which happen across all airlines, disruptive behaviour in such a confined shared space is unacceptable,"

"And we hope that our proactive approach will act as a deterrent to eliminate this unacceptable behaviour onboard our aircraft.”

This new initiative starts on June 12th. Ryanair set the minimum fine at €500.

This initiative hopes to see an improvement in passenger behaviour following past disruptive events

For example, in January 2025, Ryanair spoke of the “intolerable” behaviour staff had to deal with from one man on a flight from Dublin to Lanzarote.

He was causing so much disruption that the flight had to be rerouted to Porto. 160 passengers had to remain there overnight, losing a day of their holidays.

A spokesperson said the airline will take legal action against anyone in future if a similar disruption is caused, which we are seeing now.

With this new incentive, we'll see improved passenger behaviour, and we don't have to land in a different place or land shortly after takeoff again.
