The rape lawsuit against Cristiano Ronaldo has been dropped.

The Juventus footballer was accused of raping Kathryn Mayorga during a party in a Las Vegas hotel room suite in 2009. Ronaldo denied the allegations at the time saying that such an attack "goes against everything I am and believe in." Bloomberg reports that a statement of dismissal for the lawsuit was filed in Nevada state court, Las Vegas last month. The statement did not specify whether a settlement had been reached between Ronaldo and Mayorga. Mayorga said that after the alleged rape she had received an initial payment of $375,000 to stay quiet. She then sued the Portuguese footballer to have her settlement voided, citing emotional trauma as her reason for not being fit to engage in the mediation. Ronaldo issued a statement on Twitter regarding the allegations last year, but never filed an official response to the lawsuit. "I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me. Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in," he wrote. "Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense. "My clear conscience will thereby allow me to await with tranquillity the results of any and all investigations."
