The former Channel 4 racing broadcaster passed away this week.
"Sad to report that legendary racing broadcaster John McCririck has died at the age of 79," reported Racing Post.
The journalist and TV personality was best known for his work on Channel 4 Racing and his later appearance on Celebrity Big Brother in 2005.
He was dropped from his role of racing pundit by Channel 4 in 2012, a decision which he later took the broadcaster to an employment tribunal over.
McCririck later said that he felt he had "no purpose in life" after his television work came to an end.
“The main trouble is I’ve got no purpose in life,” he told the Daily Mirror. “I worked for well over 50 years and never missed a day. I’m not working now and that’s the depressing thing."
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jenny.
